For a successful career just being knowledgeable
cannot help. One needs to be adequately qualified, have
refined presentation and communication skills, and also
a confident personality that can impress others and also
send across positive vibes about ones abilities and
passion. With a high drop out rate students in Kakrala
and Aagar are even unable to complete their basic
schooling, let alone higher studies. Moser Baer Trust,
realized this missing link, and came up with a unique
project –
Career Development Centres that targets
mainstreaming students for higher education and also
works upon their inherent personality weaknesses, like
computer familiarity, spoken English, and personal
grooming so that they can have an overall development.
With stress on academic achievement, CDC has provisioned
tutorial classes in subjects like Maths, Science and
English, where students generally falter and
consequently tend to drop out from the formal education
system. The idea is to facilitate completion of
schooling and then push the children for higher studies
at the Bachelors and Masters level. In a nutshell the
overall achievement of CDC is the prevention of drop out
and development of overall personality that enhances
ones competitiveness and value in the market.
MBT initiated its first Career Development Centre in
village Kakrala near A-164 plant of MBIL. The project
has especially focused students of standard X and XII
who face board examinations. The course prepares them
for high scoring so that their confidence is boosted.
Apart from the youth, CDC also caters to the needs to
the women and elder male members of the community. There
is a special package to make women computer friendly and
consequently document such case stories where women have
been able to utilize the skill effectively. Such case
stories would be instrumental in motivating other women
to come forward and utilize the skill. The CDC thus
offers a complete package of services that ensures that
all segments of the community become familiar to
computer usage and aid in their empowerment.
