SANGAM 2009

SANGAM - Celebrating partnership for progress

While dealing with complex issues within communities, it is not always feasible for a single organization or agency to fulfill the multiple requirements of the situations and provide a multitude of resources, equipment and personnel as per need. But by drawing upon the expertise and the energy of many agencies and individuals, or to put simply, by working together and forming meaningful partnerships, one can not just increase resources but offer holistic solutions to complex issues. Moser Baer Trust, in all its projects, has also aimed at collaborating with able organizations that are willing to put their energies for a common cause. But merely forming partnerships is not all, maintaining this relationship with honesty and respect for each other is imperative for the attaining the goals. MBT too has upheld this spirit of partnership and on 14th October 2009 organized the event “SANGAM” to celebrate this spirit. SANGAM saw the confluence of all partnering organizations of Moser Baer Trust and the Valedictory ceremony of four projects – DISHA, Project Taleem, Vocational Training and Digital Literacy. The event was held in the community hall of Kakrala village.

The event saw a congregation of a large number of MBTs partners, ranging from Cap Foundation from DISHA, Jan Shikshan Sansthan from Vocational Training, ModiCare Foundation from Nayee Roshni, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Inter College from Digital Literacy, Gram Panchayat Kakrala, Employee Volunteers and Moser Baer India Ltd. Students from DISHA presented a skit that depicted the change which has transpired within them after joining course. Ms. Nita Puri, Head-HR Admn gave certificates to … DISHA students from three centres. Ms. Nalini Gangadharan from Cap Foundation gave a speech highlighting how strong partnerships can reap success. Students of Project Taleem presented a puppet show highlighting the story of Taleem centre in their village setting. A very enthralling puppet show entertained everyone and even surprised all by their creative expression. After the puppet show Ms. Nausheena Azad from ModiCare Foundation gave certificates to 14 girls from Taleem Centre who completed their National Literacy Mission curriculum. Students of Vocational Training presented a group song “aa gaye yahan jawa kadam, manzilo ko dhoondte hue” while two peer leaders Aarif and Sartaj of Nayee Roshni Project sang “le mashaal chal pade hai log mere gaon ke” which symbolized with the awakening of the youth and the hope of a brighter tomorrow. After the song, the village Pradhan Mr. Mamnoon gave certificates to the toppers of Dress Making and Mehendi courses and spoke about MBTs interventions in their village for the past three years. The principal of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Inter College, Mr. Tara Chand gave certificates to 62 children of Digital Literacy. After the convocation was over, Ms Raj Malhi, employee volunteer who teaches English to girls of Project Taleem shared her experience and Ms. Nita Puri gave the concluding remarks.

The event Sangam besides commemorating the students who have completed their courses in various projects also strengthened ties with the Kakrala community, the main site for MBTs community interventions and the most crucial partner for MBT. The support of Kakrala community towards the initiatives made by MBT has made great headways and the results of which were visible by the high participation of students in the programme. Developing and continuously cultivating such partnerships is the key towards building a strong foundation and ensuring a successful and stakeholder engagement.
