Moser Baer Trust has been imparting computer
education to the school children and teachers, under a
unique private-public partnership with schools and Gram
Panchayat, since January 2008. Earlier, this
3-month course was implemented in partnership
with Microsoft, whereby, Microsoft authorized MBT to
certify the successful candidates passed out from these
centres. In September 2009, these computer centres
observed new dimensions, when a strategic partnership
got materialized with Nasscom Foundation. This
synergetic partnership of MBT and Nasscom Foundation is
one where each partner is in fulfilling its goal is also
extending its expertise to the others operational
domain. NF brings to fore its experience in establishing
knowledge platforms in communities and the existing
MBT’s computer centre is further renamed as Nasscom –
Moser Baer Trust Knowledge centres. These centres are
multidimensional and reach many needy stakeholders of
the societies. MBT continues to play the role of an
enabler in nearby communities of its operations. The
knowledge centre is one such enabling platform, where
various goals are achieved such as the computer literacy
for youth, a perennial pre-requisite for a decent urban
job nowadays. It also uses the school support curriculum
to enhance their learning with the school going
children. The functional literacy helps in making the
SHGs literate and health information CDs go a long way
in helping adolescent girls tackle their lives and makes
them aware of their rights.
Realizing its own core competence in developing digital
media, Moser Baer extended its expertise for creating
failure proof CD based content as well as replicating
large content on its product for wider dissemination.
With this strategic partnership, the outreach of MBT has
increased and now it is impacting the lives of the needy
at two levels-one, MBT has been imparting computer
education through three knowledge centres directly,
under which it has already trained more than 1000
children and two, by replicating the content of Nasscom
Foundation on its product. It has been covering 13
states of the Nasscom Knowledge Network, which has the
outreach to 23 NGO partners having 250+ knowledge
centres across the country. The impact till date has
been to over 100,000 people in various disciplines.
There, this initiative of imparting computer education
is directly related to the business principle and
mandate of Moser Baer, since it is directly or
indirectly training the youth into computer training and
making use of computer accessories – which are the
products of the company. This project directly fulfills
the corporate requirement of creating demand for its
products and thus, resulting in amplifying in the sale
of the demanded products.
